Participation Agreement for Advanced Energy Code Adoption Support

Please download the required Participation Agreement.

This agreement must be signed by an authorized representative of your organization to receive technical support for reach codes, building performance standards, or benchmarking policies. A program representative will request this signed form ahead of providing formal assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Participants gain access to a variety of resources, including information on code compliance, energy code coach support, permitting best practices and technical support for advanced energy code adoption and implementation.

Energy code coaches are available to jurisdiction building departments and codes and standards stakeholders to answer questions regarding Title 24, Parts 6 and 11, as well as provide in-person support and training sessions.

Technical support for adoption and implementation is available to jurisdictions interested in exploring advanced energy codes, such as reach codes and building performance standards. Energy code coaches assist with code development, building and permit analysis, stakeholder engagement, presentations to council, submissions to the California Energy Commission (CEC) and Building Standards Commission (BSC), and overall implementation.

Reach codes are local ordinances adopted by the local government that exceed and enhance the state’s green building standards. Adopting reach codes can make a meaningful difference by helping to:

  • Improve the cost effectiveness and energy performance of buildings
  • Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and pollutants as well as improve indoor air quality
  • Reduce energy use and improve grid resiliency
  • Allow local governments to be leaders in climate solutions
  • Fulfill local climate action plan or other policy goals
  • Prepare the local market and increase regional energy resilience
